Fruit growers demand rollback of GST on packaging material, pesticides

Kashmir Fruit Growers and Dealers Association (KFGDA)  today demanded rollback of Goods and Services Tax on fruit packaging material, fungicides and other raw material used for horticulture and agriculture production and processing. According to a statement, KFGDA today held a meeting of growers at Sopore Fruit Mandi in the chairmanship of Bashir Ahmad Bashir and demanded rollback of 12 percent GST on packaging material and 18 percent on fungicides, pesticides and insecticides. Basheer said the imposition of GST on card board, waste paper packing material and pesticides, fungicides and insecticides is not affordable for the growers particularly small growers.“Besides, rates of all varieties of fresh fruits will therefore rise and will touch the sky due to imposition of GST.”
