According to a source, GST Council will most probably decide 18% GST on all kinds of sanitizers. Presently, alcohol based sanitizers attract 18% GST and non-alcohol based attract 12%. Ayurvedic companies are against rate change n sanitizers. The government had issued a clarification that all kinds of sanitizers should be taxed at the same rateon July 15. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had also rejected PIL seeking masks and sanitizers to be included in essential commodities.
