The GST and Central Excise Department of Chennai has arrested two persons from Vellore for committing GST credit fraud of ₹35.72 crore. A detailed investigation was carried out and 50 searches were conducted. The arrested persons were produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore. They were remanded in judicial custody until November 27. They took GST registration on the name of other persons after obtaining documents either by making cash payments or by supplying groceries to them.ST credit fraud of ₹35.72 crore on invoice value of ₹401 crore was committed by the arrested persons, along with their accomplices, the release said.
