The Federation of All India Farmer Associations (FAIFA) had urged the government to reduce GST on cigarettes taking into consideration the financial distress of tobacco farmers. The association further said that to keep in view the Prime Minister’s ‘Vocal for Local’, the government should lower the taxes on cigarettes to the benefit of Indian industry.
