Struggling with sales declining demand, the government might not consider calamity cess on the GST. There were reports earlier that government might come up with calamity cess just like imposed by Kerala last year. According to sources, any measure like this can affect the consumers’ sentiments and hit the market’s strength. Congress leader KapilSibal had tweeted that the RBI admitted growth this year will be in negative territory. Don’t even think of a “calamity cess” on the GST. That will be another “calamity”, he said.
