The Government is holding back reducing GST rate on items like PPE, ventilators, test kits, and sanitisers.The government has said that reducing GST would lead to hardships and distortion for domestic manufacturers without much cost-benefit to the consumers. This GST exemption would be severe to the domestic market. It was also explained that when GST exemption is giving, the input tax credit cannot be claimed and thus manufacturing cost increases.
