The High Court of Madhya Pradesh had granted bail to the promoters of Som Distillers on furnishing a bond of Rs.5Lakhs each. It was alleged to have evaded tax on account of production and sale of sanitizers. The promoters were under custody since July 9, 2020. The GST authority had communicated the demand of Rs.7, 96, 00,000crore and Som Distilleries had deposited Rs8crore under protest. It was contended by the petitioners that CGST Department had increased the liability to Rs. 33 crores as an afterthought.
