The DGGI has unearthed GST fraud to the tune of Rs.50.24Crore claiming fake ITC. Around 115 fake firms were spread over nine GST Commissionerates. It is said that a third year student and a partner in a Chartered Accountancy firm had registered fake firms, generated illegal availment and wrongly passed the benefit of the ITC. The same was detected by DGGI through data analytics which noticed that 55 suspicious firms were registered under the jurisdiction of Commissionerates of Vadodara and Ahmedabad with a few mobile numbers and e-mail IDs.
