The FM had taken to twitter by listing benefits of GST that was piloted by the former FM late Arun Jaitely as a mark of tribute on his first death anniversary. She has said that “It is now widely acknowledged that GST is both consumer- and taxpayer-friendly. While the high tax rates of the pre-GST era acted as a disincentive to paying tax, the lower rates under GST helped to increase tax compliance.”It was stated that due to pandemic there has been a collapse in GST Collections which is just two-thirds of the average during the last fiscal year.
