The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has issue a circular stating that that Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Safeguard Duty (SGD) compensation to solar project developers should be paid within 60 days. The Ministry has also added that there is no need for the developers to approach the CERC for each case individually as the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) had already passed the order on the ‘Change in Law’ compensation for GST and SGD. The circular also mentioned that if the payment is not made within 60 days then late payment surcharge shall levy.
