A PIL has been filed in Telangana High Court seeking an investigation on alleged GST evasion by six cable operators in Khammam town. A social worker has filed the PIL directing TRAI to ensure that cable operators pay GST collected from subscribers. He further stated that in an RTI, TRAI has replied that none of the six operators are registered with Centre and paid GST. The petitioner said that since GST is in operation from 2017, the total sum collected by the cable operators from subscribers would be nearly ₹1.44 crore so far.
