Uttarakhand’s actual earning from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) fell short of the estimated revenue by Rs 3201.14 crore in 2017-18 financial year, according to the state budget tabled recently. The estimated revenue collection from GST for the period was Rs 8,875.65 crore but the actual revenue collected was Rs 5,674.51 crore.The state government has raised this issue with the GST council.

There was a shortfall in revenue collection in other heads as well. Revenue from stamp duties was estimated at Rs 1,100.71 crore for the same period, but actual earning was Rs 882.26 crore ,which is Rs 218.45 crore short of the estimated figure. The collection from hotel taxes was estimated at Rs 33 crore but the actual receipt was Rs 19.07 crore ,which is Rs 13.93 crore less. The collection from the state production fee also fell short of expectation from Rs 2,400.50 crore to Rs 2,261.67 crore. However, revenue collection from power fee and services was Rs 323.62 crore, which was slightly higher than the estimated Rs 300.08 crore.
