The Prime Minister office had asked the finance ministry the current financial situation in terms of revenue collection. The confusion had begin to spread when Ministry released a comment that it won’t be able to give compensation to states in near future. Recently, Attorney General K KVenugopal’s had given his legal opinion on the issue that Centre is under no obligation to pay the states. This has raised much criticism among the states. Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac threatened to move the Supreme Court if the Centre goes back on disbursing GST compensation.
