In the first four months of current fiscal year, the Punjab government had suffered a loss of GST of 38%. According to taxation department, the latest data reveals that GST collection in the month of April, 2020 was Rs. 2,644 crore. May’s collections were better but marginally at Rs 515 crore against last year’s Rs.998crore before picking up further in the subsequent two months. A state official had said that GST revenue gap of Rs. 4,335 crore related to April and May months had become pending in the month of June.
