Chairperson of the Fifteenth Finance Commission N.K. Singh said that compensation levy on GST might have to be extended till as late as 2025-26 to pay off GST dues of states. He said that Centre has never said that it will not pay for first five years rather it is to be seen that how it is going to be adjusted in the efficient manner.
