“The state government is committed to make the process of transition to GST smooth and convenient for dealers.” Said Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

The Delhi government initiated online enrolment for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Friday. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia launched the enrolment for various service providers in Delhi on the GST portal at Delhi Secretariat. At the initial stage, the government invited 30 dealers from different wards of Delhi.

Addressing the traders, Sisodia said, “GST should be seen as a partnership between the government and the business fraternity as it is expected to benefit consumers apart from the two.” “From December 16-31, 2016, officials of the VAT department shall organise meetings with representatives of dealers’ associations in Delhi to spread the message and awareness among them so that they can enrol themselves within the prescribed time slot to avoid any inconvenience in future,” Sisodia added.

“The state government is committed to make the process of transition to GST smooth and convenient for dealers, for which a series of workshops and training programmes are being organised for officials of the departments of trade and taxes, central excise and service tax, as well as VAT dealers,” he said. With GST likely to be implemented from April 1, all service providers are required to enrol themselves on the GST portal.
