DGGI had unearthed tax evasion worth Rs.108 Croreby two liquor manufacturers in Aurangabad and Nanded districts of Maharashtra. In a statement, DGGI had said that this scam came into light after various searches on July 28 and 29. It is alleged that GST was paid a part of the clearances of alcohols not fit for human consumption. The total amount payable by them under Rule 6 of the CENVAT Credit Rules, 2004 is estimated to be Rs five crore.
