Govt offers filing of NIL GST statement in form GSTR-1 through SMS

With the objective to give taxpayers a relief, government has facilitated the option to file GST-1 Nil return through SMS with effect from 1^st Week of July. This move would give relief to around 12 lakh registered taxpayers. By this move, the taxpayers need not login on their portal account. After filing of return, the same can be traced back by them on the GST Portal by logging into their GSTIN account and navigating to Services. The CBIC had already made available the facility to file NIL return in GSTR-3B since 8^th June, 2020. To file NIL GSTR-1 Return, the taxpayer needs to send an SMS on 14409.
