The Centre has transferred Rs.6,000 Crore to some states and UTs as GST compensation. The first tranche has been made to 16 states and 2 UTs under a special borrowing window, the Ministry of Finance said on October 23. This borrowing is at an interest of 5.19 percent. Of the 21 states and two Union Territories that opted for the special borrowing window, five did not have any shortfall on account of GST compensation.
