GST council exempts satellite launches by Isro, Antrix from 18% GST

The Council has exempted GST at the rate of 18% on satellite launch services offered by the ISRO, Antrix Corporation Ltd and NSIL. Finance Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pande said that this step has been taken to promote the encourage start-ups making satellites to use domestic launching services. There is a doubt whether this relief would extend to private launch companies or not.
