The intelligence squad had unearthed a ‘bill trading’ fraud in Kerala. A tip was received that GST registrations had been taken in the name of economic weaker persons and used by the arecanut smuggling mafia based in Palakkad, Malappuram and Thrissur districts. One such consignment worth crore of rupees was caught by the GST intelligence squad near Vazhikkadavu in Palakkad. Consequently, the GST intelligence along with police was able to catch the prime agent in the trade.
