The Union Territory Excise and Taxation Department had busted a racket of state GST evasion on Rs 61 croreturnover by six firms. A search was conducted on business premises of the six firms for which six teams were constituted. According to RK Chaudhary, Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner (AETC), the firms were engaged in items such as pipes and tiles and partners and owners of the firms were relatives or connected with each other. They did not pay taxes while made sales of Rs61crores. All firms have not been filing their GSTR-3B monthly tax returns from February 2020 onwards,” he said. It was also revealed that fake e-way bills were generated to show transportation of goods. The investigation is still in progress.
