Now businesses who want to register under GST can opt for Aadhaar authentication. However, in absence of this, a physical verification of the place of business shall be conducted for granting of registration certificate. The notification released by CBIC provides that “where a person fails to undergo authentication of Aadhaar number or does not opt for authentication of Aadhaar number, the registration shall be granted only after physical verification of the place of business in the presence of the said person.” With Aadhaar authentication, registration shall be granted within 3 days and in other cases it shall be granted within a time period up to 21 days.
