The High Court of Gujarat had quashed GST department’s recovery orders passed in lockdown period. The orders were passed since the he firms and traders failed to remain present for hearing during the lockdown period. One of the traders had said due to complete lockdown in Ahmedabad, he could not attend the hearing on May 14. Another said that on the date of hearing, the office of the Department was itself shut down. The High Court had quashed the orders and asked the Department to decide the case afresh after giving an opportunity.
