The GST intelligence wing in Nagpur has caught a trading firm recording only sales in its books suspiciously and no purchases. It led to claim of fake ITC racket operating across Maharashtra and Gujarat. They have availed ITC of Rs 135 crore through fraudulent transactions worth over Rs 1000 crore. The proprietor who claims to be a farmer has been caught in Nandurbar and has been sent to judicial custody. The sales recorded in the books of the Malegaon firm were entered as purchases in the account of other entities. The search revealed that entities were shell companies.
