A ministerial panel led by Kerala finance minister Thomas Isaac is looking for measures that includes mandating electronic permits for transportation of the precious metal. The panel is also taking suggestions from various agencies including companies that import gold and from income tax officials. At the same time, central and state officials have started to keep a check on tax evasion using data collected from various sources. The next meeting of the Council is expected to be around 1st February and it is expected to discuss loopholes to fix GST evasion.
