UT: Bar Body under GST, will have to pay tax for parking fee, rent

It has been found by UT Excise and Taxation Department in its internal probe and physical assessment that Punjab and Haryana High Court’ association collects Rs 8 lakh to Rs 9 lakh per month as parking fee and rent from shops and it will bring it under GST lens. The Department is soon going to serve show cause notice on the association to apply for GST number and pay the unpaid taxes along with interest. A senior official from the Department has said that “Our probe established that the parking was being run from June 2019 and shops prior to that. However, no tax was paid, so we will serve a show-cause notice to pay the tax as well as the interest.”
