GST officers arrest 4 in 3 different cases of ITC fraud of ₹178 crore

The Finance Ministry had arrested four persons in different cases of fraud claim of input tax credit. “The officers of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Commissionerate, Delhi North… have unearthed a network of fictitious firms to generate goods-less invoices and pass on fake ITC to multiple beneficiaries. In all, four individuals were arrested in three different cases. The total ITC involved in the three cases is ₹178 crore,” the Ministry said in a statement. The main perpetrator had created four non-existent firms to pass on ITC of ₹54 crore. The Ministry further said that Vikas Goyal and Gopal Aggarwal have confessed to their involvement in running this web of fake firms.
