THE Finance Ministry has said that details pertaining to Financial Year 2018-19 are required to be filled in the annual return. Various representations were received stating that certain tables in auto-populated columns include details related to 2017-18. There is no mechanism to show the split of two years (2017-18 and 2018-19) in Form GSTR-9 for 2018-19. The Ministry clarified that details related to FY 2017-18 are to be ignored. It also clarified that no adverse action would be take in case there is variation in returns for taxpayers who have already filed their annual return by including details and input tax credit pertaining to FY 2017-18.
