GST has been entangled with shad dealers claiming fake ITC and issuing bogus bills. To curb this menace, the GST Council’s law panel has come up with stringent rules for GST registration. For new registrants may have to rely on their income-taxcredentials and other records. Those who fail will be provided GST registration in 60days only after a visit is made. Further, an analytics tool may be deployed to identify “risky” dealers, such as those not filing returns for six months.
