West Bengal Finance Minister AmitMitra had said that Centre’s stand on compensation cess “appears to be part of a planned strategy to destroy the financial health of the states and crush federalism”. He had further said that is this the new ideology of the Centre that once the financial health of a state becomes shaky, the centre’s brute power comes into the play. He also said that both demonetization and GST are not ‘Act of God’ rather ‘Act of man’.
