Registered taxpayers often require official certificates issued by GST authorities such as Registration Certificate, Amendment Certificate, and other statutory documents. The GST Portal provides a facility to view and download such certificates in electronic format, ensuring convenience and record-keeping.

This manual consolidates the law basis, process to download certificates, key notes, FAQs with statutory basis, and a compliance checklist.

⚖️ 1. Law Governing Certificates

  • Section 25, CGST Act, 2017 – Provisions relating to registration.

  • Rule 10, CGST Rules, 2017 – Issuance of Registration Certificate.

  • Rule 19, CGST Rules, 2017 – Amendment in Registration Certificate.

  • GSTN Guidelines – Certificates are issued electronically on the GST Portal.


📌 2. Types of Certificates Available

  • Registration Certificate (REG-06).

  • Amended Registration Certificate.

  • Other certificates issued by Tax Authorities (as per proceedings).


🛠️ 3. Step-by-Step Process to View & Download

As per GST Portal Manual:

  1. Visit www.gst.gov.in → Login with credentials.

  2. Navigate to Services > User Services > View/Download Certificates.

  3. Certificates issued by Tax Authorities are displayed in descending order (latest first).

  4. Click the Download icon under the respective certificate.

  5. Certificate is downloaded in PDF format.


📌 4. Key Notes

  • Amended Registration Certificates will appear automatically after any change is approved.

  • Address in Registration Certificate follows updated format:
    Floor No., Building No./Flat No., Premises/Building, Street, Landmark, Locality, Town/City, District, State, PIN Code.

  • Certificates remain available on portal for future reference.

Q1. Where can I view certificates issued by GST authorities?
Go to Services > User Services > View/Download Certificates. (Manual)

Q2. In what order are certificates shown?
Displayed in descending chronological order (latest first). (Manual)

Q3. In which format can I download?
Certificates are downloadable in PDF. (FAQ 4)

Q4. What about amended details?
If registration details amended, updated certificate will be displayed. (Manual)

Q5. What information is visible in notices/orders?
Details like Notice/Order ID, Authority, Type, Description, Date, Due Date, and Amount (if any). (FAQ 2)
